Reharmonizing "darn that dream"
Today i'll share with you some work in progress on the beginning of "Darn that dream".I may use it in an arrangement, or even as a starting point for a new tune.
The original chords
My reharmonization with a prolongation of the last measure
The beginning is written with hybrid chords (triads+bass note). They are mostly non-functional chords which evolve into the key of Gb, and then back to the original key with functional chords.
In Gb
Dm7(minor related of subV7/I )
Db9sus(V7sus)
B6/9(IVM)
Bb13(V7/VIm) which goes to its tritone substitute E7,pivot chord that enable us to go back to G. (E7 is subV7/IV in Gb and V7/IIm in G)
I Then wrote another reharmonization of the first four notes:
Once again, the chords are non-functional and written paying attention to voice leading.
You can hear both examples in the audio (the key is changed).
Second reharmonization in the original key
