Working with a metronome (5 against 4)

The metronome is a great tool to practice rythm.You are all familiar with putting the metronome on "2" and "4", but what about putting it on a completely different part of the beat?

In this exercice, i suggest experimenting with the 5:4 feel (Five against four).

The general idea is to have to pulses at the same time :stressing every four notes while the metronome stresses every five notes.

There are two ways to notate this, wether you consider if the metronome plays the beats or not.

Here is the first exercice you can practice as shown in the video, using syllables as a tabla player would do.

Then try to play rythm on the guitar as shown in the video.

Playing simple rythms while putting the metronome on unusual beats or subdivision of the beat is a great way to acquire precision.

The volume does not come in on your video until 2:37 or so?

well, there is some volume, but it is not as loud in the beginning....
